
In North Singapore, not only Singapore Zoo, you may stop by Upper Seletar Reservoir nearby if you have spare time during journey. It is a hidden gem located in the North off Mandai Road, same area as the Singapore Zoo. I’m sure that you would be amazed by its serenity view.
There are 4 reservoirs in Singapore. Besides MacRitchie Reservoir, Lower Peirce Reservoir and Upper Peirce Reservoir, Upper Seletar Reservoir is one of them. Little do you know its former name is Seletar Reservoir. It was built in C.E. 1920 in order to full-fill the demand of water utilisation in the first world war. It was grandly opened on 10th August 1920 by Her Royal Highness Princess Alexandra of Kent, United Kingdom. It is renamed as Upper Seletar Reservoir later on and open some part for public visit.
Whoever would like to get away from busy city life, you may come to this natural place and strolling at the waterfront. It is definitely a relaxing therapy exercise to do here. You would be stunned by mirror reflection view of the reservoir. There is also a lot of space that good for picnic activity, either in the evenings or morning are perfect timing.

A lone Casuarina tree with two benches symmetrically, is one of the famous Instagrammed spot in the north, setting a lovely view by the reservoir. That’s why lover couples would like to come over for a memorable shot, even for wedding photography.

Getting there: Hop on bus 138 from Ang Mo Kio Interchange and alight at the Upper Seletar Reservoir bus stop. If you’re coming by car, turn into Mandai road from Upper Thomson Road and make a turn at Mandai Road Track 7.
